Outdoor recreation is one of the most compelling reasons to live in Northwest Wyoming. We have outdoor recreation and it is open all four seasons. For example, the amazing number of outdoor recreational opportunities is endless. The is a vastness and awe to the land and thousands of miles of waterways. Therefore, making it ideals for hunting and anglers.

Our public lands offer areas to hike, climb, mountain bike, and explore. Winter sports enthusiasts are not left out because we have outstanding cross-country, downhill ski, snowshoe, and snowmobile areas. Moreover, you will find world-class access within 100 miles in every direction of Powell, Wyoming. And don't forget Yellowstone National Park. At just over 70 miles to the East Entrance, Powell is an easy morning's drive to the park, that is to say, Yellowstone is the perfect weekend day trip. In short it is a comfortable, reasonably-priced stay away from the crowds!

Hunting Season

Hunting seasons in Northwest Wyoming is world class. For instance, our abundance of game is like nowhere else on earth. For example, we have deer, elk, antelope, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, bear, upland game, waterfowl, wolves and numerous other species.

Great Fishing

The blue ribbon Big Horn River is within a 45 minute drive as is fishing (summer and ice) on the Buffalo Bill Reservoir. The Greybull River, through the Wind River Canyon, is about an hour and a half away. It is the go-to location for some of the area's best fly fishing. And don't forget the North and South forks of the Shoshone River from Yellowstone National Park to the Reservoir. All are within a two-hour drive.

Powell Golf Club

The Powell Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole public course located just east of town. The championship-length course offers beautiful views of the valley and two distinct nines: the Desert and the Pines.

Parks & Rec

The Powell Recreation Department has 13 parks in Powell. Moreover, it equals to approximately 125 acres of turf grass. The park amenities include picnic areas and playgrounds. As well as, tennis courts, skate park, and wading pool. In the winter Washington Park boasts an outdoor skating rink. Finally, enjoy 1.5 miles of paved pedestrian trails and ball fields.

Powell Aquatic Center

The Powell Aquatic Center is a community and visitor indoor swimming and recreation facility. It offers an 8-lane competitive swimming pool for those who enjoy laps, as well as, a large circulating "endless river,โ€. To sum up it also boasts an aquatic play area for the little ones and a snack/dining area.
