Quality of Life

Powell has a strong agricultural foundation with a forward-looking sensibility. Award winning schools, high speed internet, a local MakerSpace, active robotics clubs, and a local college all foster future entrepreneurs and an excellent quality of life.

A wholesome community with an idyllic downtown, Powell's sidewalks and minimal traffic make it easy to enjoy a pedestrian stroll to city parks, restaurants, and shops. Northwest College is nestled in town with beautiful mountain and agricultural views.

Our countryside community is fortunate to have many options in healthcare. Access to a local hospitals, clinics, and direct primary care make wellness visits easy and emergencies manageable.

Public safety is a priority for Powell residents. Neighbors watch out for neighbors. The Powell Police Department keeps a vigilant eye over our community and is very involved in local activities.

Powell is in #ParkCountyWY, which includes over half of Yellowstone National Park. Cody, Wyoming — founded by the famous Buffalo Bill — is a quick 25 minutes on a state highway, southwest of Powell. Meeteetse, an authentic western town, is an hour to the south on your way to the Wind River recreation area. Park County is surrounded by mountains on all sides with four-seasons of epic recreation for all kinds of outdoorsmen. Mountain trails hold adventure for hikers, bikers, horsemen, and cross-country skiers. Mountain rivers and lakes provide world-class blue-ribbon fishing and a playground for paddling, kayaking, canoeing, and, yes, sailing. Hunters pose with wild game. Downhill skiers enjoy the powder. The question isn’t what is there to do? — the question is, how much gear do I need to purchase?

The vast amount of public land and breathtaking scenery in the Basin attract a wide variety of artisans. Painters, photographers, crafters, potters, and blacksmiths grace every festival and many of our downtown shops.
